About Me

John R. Carter, MD, FACOG, is an obstetrician and gynecologist at Women’s Health Associates in Bossier City. He provides regular gynecologic services of all kinds, as well as obstetric services for normal-risk and high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Carter’s care philosophy is to partner with patients for their health, which often includes their primary care needs. 

He earned a medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport School of Medicine and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the same location. Dr. Carter is board certified in OB-GYN (American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG). 

He also is a member of multiple medical and professional societies.  

Outside of work, Dr. Carter enjoys hunting and other outdoor activities. He lives in Bossier City with his wife, Jan. They have two grown children.
