About Me
Darien Ashton Paone, MD, was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by the prospect of making a meaningful difference in people's lives during some of their most challenging moments. Today she is a cardiac surgeon at Red River Cardiovascular Surgeons in Shreveport.
“Cardiac surgery combines technical precision, teamwork and innovation with the ability to have a lasting impact on patients and their families, making it an especially rewarding field,” she says.
A native of Gross Pointe, Michigan, Dr. Paone earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Medical Doctorate at New York University School of Medicine. She completed an internship in general surgery at Tufts Medical Center and a residency in integrated cardiothoracic surgery at NYU Langone Health in New York. She then completed a fellowship focused on minimally invasive cardiac surgery at the Montreal Heart Institute in Quebec.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and trying new restaurants.
