About Me
Dakota J. Boston, MD, practices endocrinology at Endocrine & Thyroid Specialists at WK Pierremont Health Center. He treats adults 18 years and older whose healthcare needs include diabetes, obesity, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, pituitary disorders, adrenal gland issues, low testosterone in men and estrogen replacement in post-menopausal women.
The nature of chronic conditions related to various hormones in the body is complicated. Continuity of care over the course of time requires strong rapport, a gift of Dr. Boston. He personally believes that patient treatment is a team effort. Dr. Boston teaches his patients about their health conditions and thoughtfully guides them toward the best treatment options available. The team shines when patients help identify specific goals of care they want to achieve and take steps at home to reach those targets. In the case of diabetes, for example, this means striving for healthy eating habits and regular physical activity. Working with patients to manage upstream conditions like high blood sugar and obesity helps to reduce their risk of diabetes, stroke, heart disease, depression, hormone dysfunction and more.
A Shreveport native who graduated from Byrd High School and LSUS, Dr. Boston earned his medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center – Shreveport School of Medicine. His clinical training included an internal medicine residency and an endocrinology fellowship at the same location. Dr. Boston is board certified in internal medicine and endocrine, diabetes, and metabolism by American Board of Internal Medicine. He also holds certification in obesity medicine by American Board of Obesity Medicine.
Dr. Boston is proud of his wife, Theresa, who is training to be a pediatrician. They unwind on long walks with their dog, travel and participate in Bible studies. Dr. Boston maintains an active lifestyle hiking and kayaking with friends.
