About Me

Donald L. Sorrells, Jr, MD, is a board certified pediatric surgeon (American Board of Surgery). He works with children and their parents to prevent fear, pain and any type of negative experience during a major surgery.

A native of Red River Parish, Dr. Sorrells graduated from Louisiana State University Shreveport School of Medicine, where he also completed a general surgery residency.

A member of the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Sorrells was a flight surgeon and served at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He served Operation Desert Freedom with a tour in Kuwait.

He did a two-year pediatric surgery fellowship at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island and was a surgery instructor at Brown University. In 2005, Dr. Sorrells returned to Shreveport to practice pediatric surgery.
