About Me

John Winterton, MD, FACC, is a cardiologist who welcomes patients who have had a stroke, heart attack, heart failure, heart rhythm or peripheral vascular issues that affect your lifestyle and longevity. He sees patients at Pierremont Cardiology, WK Stockwell Medical Plaza in Bossier City and WK Palmetto Village in Benton.

Patients benefit from a better understanding of their diagnosis and possible treatment outcomes. With an eye on patient-centered care, Dr. Winterton works closely with patients to find the right treatment for each individual. According to his care philosophy, Dr. Winterton individualizes care to help patients make informed decisions that align with their life goals.

A Shreveport native, Dr. Winterton graduated from Jesuit High School (now Loyola College Prep). He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in microbiology. After college, Dr. Winterton earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at LSU Health Sciences Center-New Orleans School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency and a cardiology fellowship at the same location. Following many years of cardiology practice at hospitals in Lakes Charles, Dr. Winterton returned home to Shreveport-Bossier City.

Dr. Winterton is board certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

Away from the clinic, Dr. Winterton enjoys spending time with his wife, Emily, a Bossier City native. They have three children.
