About Me

Kamel Brakta, MD, is an SRC-accredited Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery at Willis Knighton Health. A general surgeon and a bariatric surgeon, Dr. Brakta and his team continuously improve the health and well-being of patients seeking safer procedures, exceptional care and better overall surgical experiences.  

At WK Robotic & Laparoscopic Surgery, Dr. Brakta surgically treats patients to help them meet their health and weight-loss goals. He skillfully uses robotic and advanced laparoscopic surgery tools for smaller incisions that mean shorter recovery times. Patient safety and comfort are important to Dr. Brakta as he supports their journey to a better quality of life. He has safely performed hundreds of surgeries using the da Vinci Surgical System at Willis Knighton hospitals.  

A Louisiana native, Dr. Brakta earned his undergraduate degree at LSU Baton Rouge and completed master’s degree coursework at Tulane University. He received his medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport. His surgery residency was at Washington Hospital Center in D.C., a teaching hospital for Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Brakta is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
