About Me

Miles A. Sugar II, MD, FACS, FSVS, RPVI, is a vascular surgeon who welcomes patients with diseases of the arteries, veins and lymphatic circulation at WK Vascular Surgery in Shreveport. He collaborates with patients and their care team to manage vascular conditions such as peripheral artery disease (PAD), aneurysms, varicose veins, and other chronic conditions. Dr. Sugar provides both open and minimally invasive endovascular procedures so patients can have a better quality of life and enjoy more years with their families.

Patients benefit from a better understanding of the diagnosis and possible surgical outcomes. With an eye on patient-centered care, Dr. Sugar works directly with patients to find the right treatment for each individual. According to his care philosophy, Dr. Sugar helps patients make informed decisions that best align with their life goals.

A Shreveport native, Dr. Sugar graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. A summa cum laude graduate of Millsaps College with a degree in chemistry, Dr. Sugar returned home to receive his Doctor of Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport School of Medicine. He remained in Shreveport to serve his residency in general surgery before a fellowship in vascular surgery at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Sugar is board certified in vascular surgery (American Board of Surgery), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery (FSVS), and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).

Away from the operating room, Dr. Sugar enjoys spending time with his wife, Jane, and their four children. He enjoys being active at First Presbyterian Church.
