About Me

Rhett McLaren, MD, helps the world have healthier children as a general pediatrician. Dr. McLaren is known for spending extra time with parents to hear their concerns and share what he thinks could help their children. He finds pleasure in charting a new course so their child can enjoy all the physical and mental benefits of a healthy lifestyle. His care philosophy is to provide the most current standard of care in a caring, compassionate and professional way.

A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in biochemistry, Dr. McLaren then attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. A member of the United States Air Force, he completed his pediatric residency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Dayton Children’s Hospital in Ohio. Following his military career, Dr. McLaren did private practice for two years in Nashville, Tennessee, while his wife trained as a pathologist. The two were happy to make their home in Shreveport-Bossier City when their medical training was complete.

Dr. McLaren is a board-certified pediatrician (American Board of Pediatrics). He keeps up with the latest advances in pediatric medicine as a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP).

In his personal time, Dr. McLaren enjoys music, exercise and outdoors time on rivers and lakes. Dr. McLaren and his wife, Bernadette, are always up for an adventure with their daughters, Elise and Amelia, and their grandson, Elijah.
