About Me

A graduate of Stanley Medical College in India. Dr. Tivakaran completed his neurology residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and completed Fellowship in neuromuscular disorders at Penn State Hershey Medical center, and Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at University of Missouri-University Hospital and clinics in Columbia Missouri. Dr. Tivakaran started his practice in Bossier City, Louisiana in 1996. Dr. Tivakaran is board certified in Neurology and board certified in Sleep medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

His expertise includes treating a wide variety of neurological and sleep disorders including migraine, stroke, seizures, Parkinson’s disease, peripheral neuropathy, obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, REM behavior disorder and narcolepsy.

Dr. Tivakaran is a member of American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic medicine, and Louisiana State Medical Society. He and his wife are parents of 2 children. He enjoys spending time with his family and serveral local community activities.
