About Me

Hany M. Dabbous, MD, PhD, of Willis Knighton John C. McDonald Transplant Center, cares for patients with liver diseases before and after liver transplantation. He specializes in treating hepatitis B and C, autoimmune hepatitis, fatty liver disease and other metabolic and alcoholic liver diseases.

He said he enjoys working with a team to save the lives of liver patients, making them productive again to support their families and community rather than suffering from their chronic illness.

A native of Egypt, Dr. Dabbous attended Ain Shams University in Cairo, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery in 2001 and a master’s degree in tropical medicine and liver diseases in 2005. He completed a fellowship in transplant hepatology in 2008 at LSU Health Science Center and Willis Knighton Health. He returned to Cairo, earned a doctorate in tropical medicine, gastroenterology and liver disease at Ain Shams University in 2009 and became a professor (gastroenterology, hepatology and infectious diseases) in the Tropical Medicine Department at Ain Shams University Hospital.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing sports and watching movies. He is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
