About Me
Tammy G. Harris, NP, is a nurse practitioner who specializes in family practice. She was born and raised in North Louisiana. She attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and completed her nursing clinicals at Northwestern State University in Shreveport. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2000, Harris worked as an RN for 12 years. She then obtained a Master of Science in Nursing in 2012 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2016, also at Northwestern State University in Shreveport.
With a master’s degree in hand in 2012, Harris first began her journey as a nurse practitioner. She spends most of her time in family practice/internal medicine, which is her passion. In 2020, she joined Dr. Scott McRight at Internal Medicine Associates at WK Pierremont Health Center in Shreveport.
Harris strives to achieve the highest level of well-being possible for each patient by treating them in a holistic manner. She teaches her patients to actively participate in their own health care to optimize the desired outcomes and to improve their quality of life. She employs every teachable moment to educate her patients on the importance of preventive care.
Outside the clinic, Harris enjoys traveling to the beach, spending time with her family and friends, and reading good books. Harris precepts and mentors nurse practitioner students. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern State University.
Harris welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
