About Me
Andrew J. Moritz, MD, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon (American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery) at Bossier Orthopedics where he uses a variety of techniques to heal injuries for patients of all ages and abilities. He works with student athletes as part of Willis-Knighton Sports Medicine, in addition to his surgical practice open to the general public.
Fellowship trained at an Ochsner hospital in New Orleans, Dr. Moritz performs reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder. He worked with professional athletes as an assistant team physician for the New Orleans Hornets NBA basketball team and the New Orleans Saints NFL football team.
Like any sports team, working with Dr. Moritz is a team effort. He values patient feedback and participation as he treats their orthopedic conditions. He celebrates with the team when physical and visible results are achieved by patients.
Dr. Moritz completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science degree from Furman University in South Carolina. His Doctor of Medicine studies were at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, followed by an internship and residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Then Louisiana became Dr. Moritz’s home for his fellowship training in New Orleans and his medical career in Northwest Louisiana.
When not assisting athletes with medical conditions, Dr. Moritz can often be found enjoying the outdoors, running or playing tennis with his wife and three sons. He also enjoys watching a good game of college football.
