Mark I. Knackstedt, MD

Mark I. Knackstedt, MD, was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his grandfather, a urologist who is a survivor of World War II. “He is a man you would want to be your doctor,” Dr. Knackstedt says. “I want to be a trusted member of the community just like he is.”

Today the Dallas native is an otolaryngologist at Willis Knighton Ear, Nose, Throat & Hearing Pierremont and South locations. He provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for conditions affecting the head and neck, including hearing and balance disorders, sinus and nasal conditions, and voice and swallowing difficulties, among others.

Dr. Knackstedt received a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University, followed by a medical doctorate from McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He completed his residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. 

Married and the father of four young children, Dr. Knackstedt enjoys spending time with his family when he’s away from the clinic. “Doctor means teacher in Latin, and I make sure I teach my children new things every day,” he says. He also enjoys lifting weights, running, playing spike ball, reading history and writing poetry.
